Starting a Mobile Detailing Business in Las Vegas

What to charge, what the weather demands, and where the work is — a local operator's guide to running a mobile auto detailing business in the Las Vegas metro.

The Las Vegas market, in plain English

Las Vegas has the highest ratio of exotic and luxury vehicles per capita of any U.S. metro outside Miami, and detailers who position for that market — clean van, professional intake process, insured up to $2M — get repeat calls from Summerlin and MacDonald Highlands. The other quiet revenue lane is casino and resort fleet work: limo services, valet-parked house cars, and executive shuttles are all under-serviced because most fleet vendors are inland from the Strip. Nevada has no state income tax, but sales tax (~8.375%) applies to detailing services and you need a Nevada state business license ($200 annually). Summer highs of 110°F+ mean you work early — most mobile operators start at 6 AM and shut down by 1 PM June through September. Winter (December–February) is peak: snowbird traffic + dry mild weather.

Local Climate

Extreme sun + zero humidity = fast oxidation. Waterless washes and ceramic top-ups sell themselves.

Market Angle

High-end Summerlin and Henderson clients pay premium ceramic rates. Casino fleet work is under-served.

Las Vegas Detailing FAQs

How do I get casino or resort fleet contracts in Las Vegas?+

Casino fleets go through procurement, not the valet office — you need a W-9, current COI listing the property as additional insured, and typically NDA + background check. Start with off-Strip properties (Green Valley Ranch, Red Rock, Boulder Station) which have simpler vendor onboarding than MGM or Caesars corporate.

What's the best time of year to launch in Las Vegas?+

Launch in October. Snowbirds arrive, temperatures drop, and CES (January) plus F1 weekend (November) create booking spikes you can market to. Avoid launching in June–August; you'll burn out working in 110°F heat before you've built a client base.

Do Summerlin and Henderson HOAs allow mobile detailing?+

Most do, but many require the contractor to be listed as an approved vendor and carry $1M general liability with the HOA named as certificate holder. Green Valley Ranch and some Summerlin sub-HOAs restrict driveway washing entirely — plan for waterless or bring your own reclaim setup.
